2021 - Netherlands & Germany

Introduction

2021 cycling trip logo
This year, again limited by the Covid pandemic, we made a very nice trip through The Netherlands and the central region of Germany. We used the numbered bicycle waypoint system in The Netherlands and the marked long distance bicycle routes 4, 11 and 3 in Germany. Thus, we rode the smaller and less used roads, winding along many rivers, showing us the beauty of these nice countries.

JULY 9 - JULY 11, 2021

Riding south to Germany

The first days we basically headed southeast through The Netherlands. We planned the route using the numbered waypoint system which allowed us to mostly stay away from the busy main roads.

Riding east on D-route 4

In Germany we picked up long distance bicycle route 4, the Mittelland-Route, which took us through Eifel National Park, along some rivers (e.g. the Sieg) and along Thüringer Wald. Some parts of the route are former railroads converted to bicycle path.
